No one is perfect, not even me. As you can see by the first picture something isn't right. I think I subconsciously made this mistake so I could add another paragraph to this how to. My system boots off of my onboard Serial ATA Raid controller so I had to go back in to the BIOS and tell the system to boot off of a SCSI device. As you can see from the last image the problem is solved. This example just proves that some problems you may encounter after flashing your BIOS probably have a simple fix.

When you finally get back into Windows the first thing you should do is go to your device manager and see if your computer has any new hardware or needs drivers to support any new options that your new BIOS enabled. As you can see by the photo above, I had some new memory controllers that needed to be installed. Sometimes you will need to go to the manufacturer's website to get these drivers but in my case they installed themselves without any help from me, in fact, there where 3 total and they installed so quick that by the time I got the screen shot there was only one left to install.

Conclusion

I hope everyone learned from this article and feels a little more confident about BIOS flashing. With that in mind, make sure that if you decide to flash your BIOS be very careful and take your time.  If you are not using the same motherboard as me you may want to refer to your manufacturer's website for more specific instructions. Like I said at the beginning of this How-To, it is not advised that you flash your BIOS for no reason at all. By flashing your BIOS you could actually be creating headaches for yourself. The only time you should flash your BIOS is if there is some problem that you believe could be associated to the BIOS or you get new hardware that requires a BIOS update to work correctly. It is possible to get performance improvements from BIOS updates, in fact my system feels a lot faster since flashing its BIOS, but you need to make sure you use caution and you should be ok.
