Have you ever dreamed of flying down the
road at 140MPH with the cops behind you and nothing to loose but the
race. That's right boys and girls no jail time and no court dates when
you’re finished racing just turn the PC off. Electronic Arts brings us
the next in the line of Exciting gas peddle pounding Need for Speed
sequels and what better way to do it then Hot Pursuit. Its about time EA
gets back to the Need for Speed line. |

I am
reviewing Electronic Arts Need for Speed 6 Hot Pursuit 2 for PC. This
isn’t your normal review for a hardware site but I wanted to express
my feeling about this game. Before I start bashing EA let me tell you
that I love the game. The graphics are ok and it’s very playable on
my Geforce 2 at 800X600. The AI in the game isn’t as good as most
games but it was good enough to pass in my book. I love the fact that
the chopper now helps to try to stop you I know that was something
people wanted in the first Hot Pursuit.

Now I will start in on what I didn't
like about it. First off because EA doesn't believe in giving anything
away NOT EVEN DEMOS! I will be using the demo for the review.
Which by the way I had to download from a file sharing program because
EA has 3rd party pay sites hosting there demo downloads. This
basically put me in a bad mood from the start. I spent 3 hours trying
to download it legally from EA and finally gave up and Used a file
sharing program for less then 10 minutes and had it. This here is
something EA has to deal with or they are going to start pushing more
customers away. |

In the Need for speed demo they let you
have 2 cars the Porsche 911 Turbo and the Ferrari 360 Spider. Both
cars are fantastic but I like the Porsche better myself. You get to
race in one track as a single challenge. Game play is weird just like
most of the NFS games the new version always seams weird after playing
the old one for so long. It took me a few days to get comfortable with
the controls and start taking 1st place. There is a hole added bit of
difficulty with the cops around but its nice that I am not just
blasting by with 1st place every time with NFS 5 Porsche when its to
easy to win its not allot of fun. |

There are also a few things about game
play that I dislike. Starting with damage. I think it was allot better
in Porsche but they did add some cool effects like your hood and trunk
lid come open if you get hit to hard. Also I would like to see the
cops chase the AI people as well as me. I have been playing the game
now for about 2 weeks and I have never seen an AI car pulled over, and
a cop will start chasing me when there are 3 other cars in front of
me. |

The final thing I want to talk about is
the menus. You have nowhere near as many options as in previous
versions of NFS but This may just be a limitation in the demo and also
I have noticed that no settings get saved but then again I am hoping
that the full version will save settings. Because of the price of
games nowadays I'm not sure if I will be buying this one until it hits
the $10 classic rack but who knows maybe I will. |

- Pro's
- Good graphics
- Nice game play
- great special affects
- hours of fun
- Cons
- EA doesn't care much for
costumers (Only Money)
- Not easy to download (Unless you
want to pay for a Demo)
- Damage could be better
- Cop's could chase other AI cars
- Settings don't get saved when
you exit the game.
