Return to Castle Wolfenstein

RTCW is based on the popular Quake 3 engine and has been used to test video card performance for some time now. These results show that performance got better as the resolution went up.  At 640X480, the video card gained .7 FPS giving it a .46 percent increase in performance and at 1600X1200, the video card gained 11.8 FPS giving it a 11.6 percent increase in performance. The overclocked test gave close to the same results just with higher numbers. This would almost lead you to believe that maybe the results in 3DMark 2003 where more then just cheating and maybe upgrading your drivers will give you more performance.

Unreal 2003

The test results that I got from UT 2003 where similar to the results I got from RTCW. At low resolutions such as 640X480, it doesn't seem like the drivers give you any benefit with a loss in performance of .4 FPS.  At 1600X1200, the video card gained 5.5 FPS giving it an increase of 13.4 percent and like RTCW, the overclocked test yielded the same results with higher numbers.

Dronz Mark

Just when I thought that I was getting great results, this test showed me that it didn't gain anything at all in the way of performance in any resolution.

Comanche 4

With Comanche 4 there was a slight improvement with the new driver package. There was an average performance increase of 1.66 percent on the non overclocked tests and an average performance increase of 1.01 percent on the overclocked tests.
