Spire sent me some coolers awhile back
and with them I found this chipset fan that I am reviewing today. I
don't have any performance data on this because I couldn't find anything
to run it on. This chipset fan is made up of a smaller heat sink and a
sleeve bearing fan with a 2 prong power connecter. |

According to the stats from spire's site
this cooler should come with a thermal pad but it didn't. Honestly it's
no big deal because I usually take them off anyway and use compound. |

Here are some photos of the spire
chipset cooler. Well in conclusion I am sorry this isn't a very
insightful review but I just couldn't find any hardware that used a 2
prong clip, so I figured it would be worthless using it without the
fan. On the good side it is a well built cooler and other then the
sleeve bearings I would recommend it to someone looking to repair a
stock chipset cooler, as long as they had the 2 prong clip. On the
other hand The Zalman Chipset cooler is only 7 dollars and it has no
moving parts that can go out. I think the best place for this cooler
would be on a video card where you didn't have the room to use a large
passive heat sink. |
