Hard drive cooling is often overlooked
by some people even though it will extend the life of your hard drive
and could even bring your system temp down. Today I am looking at a
very nice hard drive cooler that was sent to me from Spire. Part number
(HD05010B1M4). |
| |
I will be testing this Cooler with
an IBM 75GXP 20Gb 7200RPM Drive and I will be using IBM's hard drive
tools to display the drives temp before and after using this cooler. |
|
|
|
Installing this cooler was no problem at
all. Below are some photos of the cooler being attached to my old IBM
hard drive. |

|
|
After the cooler was installed just plug
the power in to the hard drive and install your drive back in to your
system. |

Like I said before the installation was
very simple. Here are the coolers stats. |
|
|
- Dimensions : 130X100X17 mm
- Ball Bearing
- Rated Speed : 4800 RPM
- Noise Level : 29.0 dBA
- Air Flow : 2 X 9.0 CFM at 4800 RPM
- Current : 0.10 A
- 50,000 Hour life span
- 4 Pin power connecter
|
I have used a lot of different hard
drive coolers and I must say I have never seen one as nice as this
one. Looks alone are outstanding and performance was just as good as
looks. Check out the graphs below. As you can see this cooler did a
great job of cooling down this hard drive. I ran the IBM hard drive
test for about 20 minutes to obtain these results. Graph is in Celsius
